Thoracoscopic sympathectomy is a safe procedure. As with any surgical procedure, however, there are certain complications associated with the procedure. Although rare, they may include the following conditions: intercostal nerve injury (causing pain, bleeding, and requiring thoracotomy), collapsed lung (requiring chest tube drainage), wound infection, and partial drooping of the eyelid. Please discuss all complications at length with your physician during your consultation visit.
